Our take

Mako is the safest bet in orthopedic robotics: unmatched procedure volume, a deep evidence base and now majority share of US robotic knees. The trade-off is ecosystem lock-in, since Mako is optimized for Stryker implants, and the newer spine and shoulder applications are still ramping compared with the mature knee and hip workflows. Hospitals weighing Zimmer Biomet's ROSA or Smith+Nephew's CORI usually decide based on their implant vendor relationship.
