Our take
Da Vinci remains the default choice for soft-tissue robotic surgery largely because of its ecosystem: the biggest trained-surgeon pool, instrument portfolio and service network. Da Vinci 5's force feedback and data platform are real differentiators, but the system is premium-priced and locks hospitals into Intuitive's per-procedure instrument economics. New rivals (Hugo, Ottava, Versius Plus) now give buyers negotiating leverage for the first time in two decades.
