Avride is the engineering-first entrant: its heritage is a decade of Yandex autonomous driving work, and it shows in the hardware — the best published specs in the category and genuine all-weather capability. Uber's up-to-$375M commitment makes it effectively Uber Eats' in-house robot champion just as Serve defected to DoorDash and Grubhub. The open question is commercial breadth: it remains dependent on Uber's platform, and its fleet is a quarter the size of Serve's.
